PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Our bovine collagen is sourced from grass-fed cattle in Argentina. The cattle from which the collagen is extracted are raised outdoors on pasture and have access to grass, air, land, and water 365 days a year. The cattle have eaten fresh grass their entire lives. The cattle from which our collagen is sourced are fully traceable back to the farmer and have never been given antibiotics or hormones.
Collagen: an important protein form
Collagen is an important adhesive protein in the body, accounting for approximately 30% of our total protein mass. It's found in all kinds of tissues, providing structure and elasticity. It also ensures the firmness and elasticity of the skin. After the age of 25, our bodies produce less and less collagen. This is a natural process. After the age of 50, our bodies produce almost no more of this protein. This manifests itself in wrinkles and less firm skin. Therefore, supplementing can be beneficial.
Types of collagen
There are different types of collagen: type 1, 2, and 3. Type 1 is the most abundant in our bodies, making up a whopping 90% of the population. That's why we've chosen to include this form in our supplement. Our collagen is sourced from cattle. We extract gelatin from the skin of these animals, which we then hydrolyze. Hydrolyzing means we break down the proteins' molecular size, making them easier to absorb.
